Silly kids.

Trinity’s rug burn
Judah’s rug burn

I have a very silly little girl.  One of her favorite things to do, is to get on her hands and knees, and scoot around on the carpet with her forehead on the floor.  And, sometimes she gets rugburn.  Like Saturday.   It looks awful, doesn’t it?

Judah, my brilliant 5 year old, wanted to know what she had done to her forehead, how she had done it, why she had done it… and then set out to repeat it.  Now, I told him it would hurt, but he didn’t listen…  and he went to bed wailing (he was tired last night) because the sting of it caught up….

I can’t help but think of how we are not much different from five year olds.  We look at someone and think “That looks fun.  That looks like a good idea…. I think I will try that.”  Even when God warns us it is stupid.  It’s going to hurt.  We will regret it.  “Nope.” we tell Him.  “I Want this.  I want to try this.  It looks like a good idea.”  And, in His infinite wisdom, He lets us reap the natural consequences.  And it stings.  But we are better off for the life lesson, aren’t we?

Too cute. Well, at least they have matching foreheads and you have a great story to tell in the Market. Thanks for sharing…

I love the analogy Nikk. It’s so true. Don’t you love when God reveals wonderful truths through the seemingly mundain things our children do?
